Dear Caregivers -
I know many of you are anxious to know what the coming weeks will bring. Empower Cherokee is committed to providing the most up to date information that we can. Below is our latest update:
Empower Cherokee is working hard behind the scenes to come up with a reopening plan that can both keep the people we support as safe as possible and allow people we support to gain access to the valuable supports that we provided.
Below is a link to a survey. We are asking for input from all caregivers in the survey. Please take the time to fill out this survey so we can effectively plan for a phased reopening of services at Empower Cherokee.
It is critical that staff, caregivers, and participants (to the extent possible) work together at this time to safely reopen our programs. This survey is not intended to assure any procedures for reopening, but to get a baseline for what participants and caregivers are feeling about a phased reopen of programs.
In the days that follow more information will be sent out as it relates to our potential reopening. Much of that information is reliant on the results of this survey. We look forward to hearing from you and greatly appreciate your willingness to take a few minutes to fill out the survey above.
Respectfully,
Heather Daily
Executive Director
I believe a June 1st opening is too soon and risky. The latest recommendation is that seniors and the most vulnerable remain sheltered in place at least through mid July or July. These consumers are among the most vulnerable and most of those in their households are also vulnerable.
While I recognize that all the consumers miss socializing with each other, how many joyous hugs will be shared as soon as they return? How many will bring Covid19 home with them that day. Alan’s and my mother contracted the virus while either in the hospital or rehab and did survive. She is 93.
Thank You for the opportunity to have input in this decision. You all do a fantastic job…
